A connector is a device that provides connection and disconnection functions and plays a role in electrical connection and signal transmission between devices and components, components and mechanisms, as well as systems and subsystems. Connectors typically consist of contacts, insulators, shells, gaskets, mating rings (or guide keys), and cable accessories.
In the electronics and electrical industry, the use of protective and wear-resistant coatings for electrical contacts is increasing. Contacts are the fundamental components of electrical connectors. Surface treatment can enhance the corrosion and wear resistance of contacts and significantly optimize their conductive function. The base material of electrical connector contacts is generally a copper alloy, and commonly used coating layers include tin plating, gold plating, silver plating, nickel plating, palladium plating, and others.
